As if the 2012 Mustang Boss 302 (http://www.autoblog.com/2010/08/13/ford-mustang-boss-302-is-back-for-2012/) wasn't tempting enough with 440 horsepower and killer good looks, Ford (http://www.autoblog.com/make/ford/) is throwing in a few extra goodies to make it that much more desirable.

http://www.blogcdn.com/www.autoblog.com/media/2010/11/boss-302-trackey-small.jpg (http://www.autoblog.com/photos/2012-ford-mustang-boss-302-trackey/)First off, the Blue Oval announced today that owners of the new Boss 302 will receive a dual set of keys, one of which, 'TracKey,' activates a secondary PCM race tune that alters nearly 200 engine management parameters for the 5.0-liter V8. "From an engine management standpoint, we've done just about everything possible to give TracKey users a full race car experience," says Jeff Seaman, Mustang (http://www.autoblog.com/model/mustang) powertrain engineer. "It's not for use on the street - for example, the deceleration is set up to preserve the brakes, and the throttle response is very aggressive. A skilled driver on a closed course will really appreciate the benefits." The TracKey also features a two-stage launch control feature similar to the one on the Cobra Jet Mustang (http://www.autoblog.com/2009/06/15/first-drive-ford-mustang-cobra-jet-watch-out-for-second/) that can be controlled via buttons on the steering wheel.

Not wanting all of that new technology to go to waste, Ford has also announced that it will be offering customers a complimentary track day to test out their new ride. Offered through Team Mustang and Ford Racing, Boss 302 owners will be treated to driving instruction and track time at Miller Motorsports Park in Tooele, UT. Owners will need to book their own travel arrangements, but once there, everything is free of charge.

With the way things are shaping up for the Boss, we're already pondering second mortgages and/or raiding our children's college funds for one of the coolest pony cars ever. If you're good at resisting such temptations, hit the jump and read all of the details in the press releases from Ford.

I don't know about you guys buy why in God's name did they use the 1969 C stripe? and the multi colored roof scheme is hideous. Why didn't they use the 1970 side stripe with the "Boss 302" inset? this thing is major Yuuuuuuuk!

Would look better IMHO with driving and fog lights. I'm sure they will be a small fortune!

That is all subjective, but I totally agree with the C stripe and roof. (When we were looking for a new specialty Mustang, we passed on the Roush right away due to the 69 style C stripe.) I loved the 70 side stripe and "Boss 302" inset. I wouldn't call this one major yuk, but I would prefer a 70 style over the 69. Of course, I am sure it looks better in person than it does in pictures.

I just always thought the 70 side stripe made a statement, kinda like "Don't F with me!" whereas the C stripe said,"nothing" I talked to Jon Kasse the other days who builds the reproduction Boss 429 engines and they will fit in the new Mustang 17,000 for the motor ain't all that bad but is the 20,000 to stuff her in that hurts but then you would have it! Boss 429,, doesn't that just feel good saying it? it makes your mouth happy!

on some cars they look great just the side vs the c on the Boss well thats different!! You gotta remember everything I learned about going' fast i learned hangin' around West Corncob!!

Oh, I see.... play the West Corncob card.... Okay, all better.

Besides, it's kind of a tacky stripe. They didn't use a classy c-stripe, like "some people" might have on their Perf White GT.

I think the roof is weird. It's like they said, "hey, we still have this big sheet of vinyl left... where can we put it?" What it reminds me of is all the graphics Pontiac used to put on the Trans Ams back in the 70's and 80's, except this Mustang actually goes as fast as it looks. :ford: I'm not saying that the 455SD wouldn't go 150mph while pulling a 40ft yacht and the driver's cowboy hat is sticking out of the t-top, but (I believe) the new Boss can turn, too.

I think if I was out after a Boss i would build my own version all blue with white side stripe Boss 302 inset black trunk lid and in small letters "wc" edition for West Corncob! :3gears:

I thought it was limited thing... like how the mach 1 were only made for 2 years. Kinda assume the Boss were along the samething. Anyone know for sure???

I think production will be limited only by Ford Marketing's recommendations. They will create as many "special models" and "limited editions" as the bean counters predict they can sell.

Interesting... i guess only time will tell. Does anyone know what the price would be? I was think like 48K-52K and then another 5K-10K slapped on by the stealership.
