Hi all, I've been lurking around this site getting some great mod ideas and info, so I figured that it's time that I actually join and get involved. I have been to a couple of shows last summer and have seen some of your awesome cars.

Can't wait till it warms up!!!

Thanks. It's a 06 GT with: BBK CAI, Diablosport 93 tune, SSS terminator exhaust, HID's, Halo's, Hawk ceramic brake pads, many interior trim pieces. Next on the list is: big brakes, lowering springs w/ tokico d-specs, long tube headers, 4:10 gears, MGW short shift, and maybe cams depending on if I put a supercharger on it. Eventually I want it to be a street legal race car. So many mods to do...

Welcome to the club. I'm taking you got an auto... Cuz your taking 4.10 gears. 3.73 is a better choice if you got a 5spd. But reguardless of tranny type if your going s/c yod b wise to go 3.73 or even better 3.55. You got some nice set of tires too? So far you've dun sum great stuff!

It is a 5spd. I've read that 4:10's are great w/ a manual if keep it N/A. But, I've never driven one with those gears, so I'm just going on what I've heard. It currently has 3:55 and I would prob go no higher than 3:73 if I s/c. It's really a tough choice whether to keep it n/a and see what kinda hp I can get out of it or forced air. Damn decisions.... Either way, I'd like to make it scary fast. Oh yeah, I put 20's on it too, it seems to sacrifice the ride a bit, but I like the look, kinda classic/modern muscle car.

I'd be interested in seeing what your set-up would do. Your "4.10 gears & 20inch wheels" set-up isn't going to be meant for top speed speed... street light racing (if thats what your going for, your on the right path). AS you know it'll be quick off the go but with 4.10's you aren't going to like it too much past 4th gear. Hence why most guys go 3.73's (best all-around feel). 3.73's gives an excellent increase in acceleration and top speed isn't decreased because you are able to wind out further unlike that with 4.10's. Speed past 100mph is going be bad for the 4.10's losely speaking now. Can you do it?.... Sure can! :) ..... what are your intentions for the car (like your looking for scary fast on the street, on the track, both?) and what size tire do you plan on running (sticking to your 20's)...every inch of tire height you add or subtract will change your ratio .22 - .25 .. put 4.10 gears in a car and add 2 inches of tire height and all of a sudden you are back to a 3.55 (just using that as an example). I can't remember off the top of my head whats the height of 20's and or what the standard GT size is on s197's. Just thought i'd throw that out, that you may have to reailgn your thought with bigger tires depending on. But for a good suspension base if your looking for more off the line. Drop down a couple sizes in tires and add a good pair of lower control arms.... check out maxium motorsports. :pimp:

Good luck with what you choose. I'll be waiting for some results.

The wife's 08 is an automatic (she doesn't do sticks), blown and has 20's on it. I put in 3.73's and she loves it. It'll jump right up to 100 and seems to have plenty left, but I'd kind of like to keep my license.

Good to hear that your wife loves em. Sounds like a fun car. Can't go wrong with a good all around gear, that still is decent on the top end. Not to say 4.10's aren't. Love 4.10's but different gears for different applications. The perfect setup is all about what your aiming to do / compete in.

The difference between 3.73 and 4.10's isn't that much. I had 4.10's in my 01 Cobra, I also had 4.30's in my old '90 GT. They were fun to accelerate but top end did suffer. But since I don't like driving > 100mph, I was fine with the added acceleration.

Anyways, welcome and hope to see you again soon!

Welcome!

I had a Windveil Blue Mustang, and loved the color. A deer made me get a different one, though.

I'd agree on the 4.10s. These cars are pigs, they need all the help they can get out of the hole.

Oh... and WELCOME!
