I don't condone ever doing this, but at the time it was fun. Have not since, and not planning on it.
I got to 143mph (per speedo) and backed off in my svtf. Guy in an is300 came up and I had to... will never do again... mind you this was a couple years ago...:rice:

Well... my honest statement would be, I wouldn't do it again... until I have more power, but I was being polite due to the family orientation of the site. lol

... and that fast in a little focus is scary/fun.

Driving: 145mph, Caprice

Was a passenger in a Ford GT at BIR that did 165mph on a wet track. Here's a pic from a few laps before:

105 maybe in the Cobra? These thoughts run through my mind: What if something jumps out in front of me, and do I really want to lose my license if I get caught doing 100+?

115 on an old yamaha 750 no helmet shoes etc just a pair of gym trunks <<--- DUMB... in a car well I buried the needle all the way to the peg in my '69 Mach 1 and since the there was a 1 inch difference from the 120 mark and where the peg was I'd say I was moving along rather quick.. Now That was a fun ride..Finally my Scariest was 100 on a ZR580 Arctic Cat going across the lake in Wisconsin...when you hit a little bump and the machine begins to go weightless it must be time to slow the H#$$% down!:punish:

152 MPH in a 1986 Buck Riveria 3.8 V6 165k Miles.
Guy in the NEW BMW Z3 was pissed (This was 01 or so).

152 could have been close or way off, its what the digital speedo said on the average trip speed.

Back in '97, I wanted to try to top out a '94 Probe GT I had. Buried the needle, and was still accellerating... Obviously since the speedo was beyond topped out I can only estimate it was around 150 give or take. FUN As HELL!

Have not gone over 90 since. Will not be tempted even to try the same on my '12 Shelby knowing it's governed to 155.

Didn't feel I should take it any further.

Not sure how wise it would be for me to unlock the governer on a car that would then approach 190. Brainerd is a long ways away to hold off that temptation....

Self-control is all it takes. :washwax: A highway Dick once told me, "son just cuz you gotta it dont mean ya gotta use it, ya all get more respect if you hold restraint with a car that has alot of power". ;) (after i recieved a full scribled top to bottom pink slip from him.... so i know what ya mean)

About 15 years ago, approx 160 MPH in an 87 Iroc-Z on Autobahn 6 in Germany... go-cart track we were going to was a little anti-climatic after that!

I say approx, as the speedo was pegged at 145. With the highway rear gears in it, an indicated 70 MPH was actually 80 MPH, so guestimating it as an actual 160+. Car was a non-stock 350/5speed. Now days, knowing the suspension work that car needed, I wonder that I didn't kill myself in it while stationed there!

In the US, I can't say I've hit more than about 135... in a caravan with a vette and some other car through central IL 10 years ago. Jumped out of that caravan after we blew by the 2nd smokey sitting in the middle... talk about pushing your luck and crapping your pants!

Now I'm old and have kids and try to keep anything much over 100 to the track.

I only got my mom's '85 IROC (automatic, 305 TPI) up to about 125 - at night on two lane road. Lucky I didn't kill myself as well.

I've had the Shelby up over 80 a few times... two of those times were passing some slow mofo ahead of me going around 50... it didn't take but a second to literally launch around them! and was up to 80 before I even got next to them when passing!

Let's just say that the Shelby has some "WOW!" built into the accelerator!

In 1995 I went 160 mph in my 86 GT convertible (with roof down) on 35w (south of where it splits with 35e), racing a Porsche 944 Turbo from 80 mph, I pulled about 8 car lengths on him and he never caught up. The speed was still climbing, when slower traffic brought the race to an end. Not bad for 3.55 gears! Stupidest thing that I have ever done in a car! But I lived to tell the tale!

About 7 years ago when I was in college in Grand Forks, I got my '98 up to 140 on I-29 (car was stock at the time). Looking back that was definitely not the smartest thing I've done... the road and everything flys by so fast at that kind of speed, its kind of scary thinking about what could have happened.

A few years ago I ran into an awesome state trooper. I had just got my 3.73 gears installed and decided to test them out on the on-ramp to 610 East from Noble in BP. Got up to 100 and slowed down right away. Cop pulled me over, and asked me WTF I was doing going 100 on the on-ramp. I told him I had just installed new rear gears and I wanted to see how they felt... he laughed and said next time save it for BIR and let me go w/o a ticket :D

Speedo stops at 160 so I have no idea. Hoping to get a run down the long straight at brainerd with GPS in the car at Powercruise. The car is mathimatically capable of 216 MPH in th top of 5th. With a good run into the corner close to 200 should be possible.

Anyway be careful out there guys, I got popped by state patrol a couple weeks ago well over 100mph.

That is correct.
Only hope is some technicality or someone who knows someone.

We all do it, just a matter of picking the right place and time. We take the chance for the rush it provides, just gotta be prepared to pay the consequences as well.

NEVER do it with kids (or in some instances ANY passenger) in the car or you have a reckless endangerment charge as well.

Not condoning speeding, just with cars capable of well over 150, the desire to "feel the power" tends to overcome even the calmest of people.

I have talked to several peole that I know who got hit with 100+ tickets and none of them ended up losing their license. Most made deals with the prosecutor ahead of time to pay a fine of some sort and keep their liense on a no same/similar for 12 months. Which shouldn't be a problem for me since the cobra put a rod through the block at BIR last night and my tahoe is not capable of going 100 MPH. A few of them got the speed reduced to somethign under 100 as well.

A few years back when I still had my Lightning, I got it up to 135 then I backed off because I was running out of road. I thing the cut off on it was supposed to be 142?
I have had the Mach 1 up to around 120 several times, but it starts to get kinda floaty so I don't like to do that too much any more.
