Auto Express is reporting that when the 50th anniversary version of the pony touches down in 2014, it will arrive in unfamiliar markets, including the UK. That means that the muscle car will boast a right-hand drive interpretation for the first time in its history. The RHD Mustangs will supposedly be built right here in the good ol' U.S. of A. and be shipped around the world, including to Australia and Japan.

As interesting as that little tidbit is, AE reiterates that the model will bow with an EcoBoost (http://www.autoblog.com/tag/ecoboost) four-cylinder under the hood. We've heard that one before (http://www.autoblog.com/2011/06/01/2015-ford-mustang-to-get-2-3-liter-ecoboost/), but the interesting part here is that the engine will be a 2.5-liter four-pot instead of the 2.3-liter variant pointed to by other sources.

If that's not enough to bulge your eyeballs, the report also says that the next-gen Mustang will be smaller and rock an independent rear suspension for the first time. Stranger things have happened. Head over to Auto Express for a full look at the site's rendering and a heaping scoop of speculation.2014 Ford Mustang to get IRS, be smaller, lighter in preparation for world car status (http://www.autoblog.com/2011/06/10/2014-ford-mustang-to-get-irs-be-smaller-lighter-in-preparation/) originally appeared on Autoblog (http://www.autoblog.com) on Fri, 10 Jun 2011 09:31:00 EST. I just hope they don't draw styling inspiration from the II :banghead:

Been doing alot of blog reading and listening to the internet chatter as of late.

The lastest word on the 2014 mustang is "It will be smaller and closer in spirit to the original 1964 Mustang.”

This is NO INDICATION of anything MUSTANG II related. The new design will be leaner than and slightly smaller then the s197's, but still very mean, and packs all the visual aggression for which the legendary model has been famous. This includes recessed headlamps, a traditional C-pillar and triple lens tail-lights.

All motor platforms from the 2.5 up will have improved fuel efficiency and reduced CO2 emissions. The car mentioned above is going to have around 300bhp & around 40ish mpg on the highway, while a range-topping 500bhp 5.4-litre V8 will be available, too. Six-speed manual and auto transmissions are likely to be offered with torque vectoring to keep the performance in check.

However the European flavor maybe seen under the skin of the mustang in its interior as they hope to take ques from BMW & Audi in this department. Because current models fall behind their European rivals in terms of fit and finish inside.

So if anything, this could be the iffy part ^?

Let's hope it doesn't look like the II and as long as its not fwd or 4 door its all good. I think if they do any of those things I'm going to drive mine off a cliff in a blaze of glory.
