So as I was detailing the car the other day I noticed that the front plate bracket was a little loose. Being that I had this bracket come loose once before (well actually it fell off at freeway speed):bawling: I decide to snug up the nuts. Well that worked like a pile of dung and it came off again which was sorta surprising since I had used up a full tube of metal weld / epoxy like goo that seemed to work pretty good. It sure stuck to my fingers really good took over a week to get that crud off. Enough rambling my question is what are most people using to hold the front plate in a "legal" position? Mine currently is laying face down in the back seat which doesn't cut it and I'd hate to explain to someone why I got a ticket for no front plate....:punish:

And NO I do not want to drill into the face of the bumper....

Thanks in advance to any suggestions you may have

I have never run a front plate on my truck (2003) and my wife has never run one on her car (2008). We don't drive them every day, so maybe we've been lucky. I just hate the looks (unless it's a personalized plate) and will not put holes in our bumpers either. We won't run front plates until we are forced to.

My bracket is held on my Cobra with 3M adhesive foam tape. A thicker version of what you use to hold on the nameplates, etc. It works great. I only had it come off twice in 7 years and that was in the garage in the middle of the winter pulling on it. You can remove the plate bracket with fishing line and it cleans up well.

Actually I have this type, but after removing the plate / bracket for a car show the 3M tape was shot. I used liquid weld ad re-installed it came loose again after one year so I still have it but really don't like having the holder sticking out at shows when I take the plate off. I think I may need to flip a coin on either no plate at all (it is my DD in the summer) or go the ALTEC route....

the section that is double sticked taped should never need to be removed and doesnt carry any weight, no reason it shouldnt stick unless its a crappy built bracket assy.

Time for some hot-rod engineering.

Figure out a "pinch" system to simply clip on the front fascia down in the cooling intake opening.
That plus a couple of "L" brackets and you are golden. That's all I use for mine and it has held
up to some serious "input".

I purchased a bracket, but have not put the plate on. I got a warning on Memorial weekend in Eden Prairie, but have seen many more cops since that don't seem to care.

Cool! Motorized or NM? Would love to get one for my Lightning, but pretty expensive. Only been stopped once, late, last summer. MNHP on a fishing expedition. Ignored it.

Let us know how it works and post pics.

Went with the motorized just waiting for it to show up so I can be "legal" again. Some how I think having the front plate laying face down in my backseat is probably a no-no..:boohoo::boohoo:

update, it is on and works slick...nothing beats a new remote controlled toy!

Good luck with the new purchase!

I have one of the Craig's brackets too and I almost love it. I had one nut that would shimmy loose and cause some issues but after a quick trip to the Depot, its been peachy ever since!
