Nice, looks like fun. Do they do these often there? It would be interesting to see how slow my car really is.

They do these pretty much every other Wednesday. The next one is August 31, and we plan on heading up there after some repair work.

If my car is 100%, I just might go!

Its definitely worth it. It's only $25 to race and $5 to watch, and you can make as many runs as you want. We managed 14 with cool down periods for the car.

Wow! That's not bad at all! All the more motivation to work out all the kinks in my car.

This is the link to the website, and at the bottom there is a link to the rules for running your car.

Awesome, thanks for the link. I will probably embarrass myself horribly though if I do go. My car has the top engine package for '73, but sadly it is rated at 266hp and a snails pace 1/4 mile of16.2 sec. @ 88.7 mph! My motor has a few mods, but without having it dynoed, I'm not really sure what I've got. guessing it's around 300hp? I'd be lucky to run in the 14's. Plus, I've never done it before! Lol.

I had never done it before either. The first run is the worst, and that isn't even that bad. My car ran what it did with a 302 with gt-40 heads, a b-cam, intake and big carb. I only have about 260-270 rwhp, and I ran a 14.43 with bad clutch slip and wheel spin. Your car should run pretty well.

You getting me pretty pumped for this! I've got three weeks to make sure my car wont blow up on the track! Do you have to get there early to ensure a spot?

The gates open at four, and you don't need to be any earlier than that. There is plenty of room, and the tech process is quick.

Don't worry about "embarrassing" yourself when going to the track. You are not there to beat anyone else (not your first few times anyway). It is you against the clock just working on bettering your own time throughout the day. You will be surprised at how quickly you become accustomed to everything that goes on.

And as for making mistakes... redlighting 2 seconds before the lights drop, not staging at all, leaving the car in reverse instead of taking off in first... they have seen it all before. As you drive up let the guys in the middle know it's your first time. They will help you out in getting set to go.
