With the flurry of hype (http://www.autoblog.com/2011/07/15/why-you-should-care-about-spotify/) surrounding the launch of Spotify (http://spotify.com) in the U.S., it was just a matter of time before the streaming music provider partnered with an automaker. And today is that day.

Spotify integration will be coming to Ford (http://www.autoblog.com/ford/) vehicles equipped with the AppLink (http://www.autoblog.com/tag/AppLink/) system in the near future (we can't get a firm commitment on a time frame), allowing subscribers of the service to play songs and interact with the app using the Ford SYNC (http://www.autoblog.com/tag/SYNC/) system.

The partnership and terms are being hashed out now, just as Ford and a host of developers gear up for the TechCrunch Hack-a-Thon (http://disrupt.techcrunch.com/SF2011/hackathon/) this weekend as part of the site's Disrupt conference in San Francisco, CA (http://disrupt.techcrunch.com/SF2011/).

We plan on speaking with some of the teams involved tomorrow, so expect more info to follow in the coming days.Spotify coming to Ford (http://www.autoblog.com/2011/09/10/spotify-coming-to-ford/) originally appeared on Autoblog (http://www.autoblog.com) on Sat, 10 Sep 2011 13:55:00 EST. Just a matter of time before auto-makers make cars into a mobile gizmo. Interested to see what's in store for the future.
