The 2011 IntelliChoice (http://www.autoblog.com/tag/intellichoice) and AutoPacific (http://www.autoblog.com/tag/autopacific) Motorist Choice Awards have been announced, and the Blue Oval took home top honors with Ford (http://autoblog.com/ford) and Lincoln (http://www.autoblog.com/lincoln) vehicles winning in six categories. Last year, Toyota (http://www.autoblog.com/toyota) and Lexus (http://www.autoblog.com/lexus) grabbed the top nod by securing nine wins over various classes. For 2011, that number fell to five.
The Motorist Choice Awards evaluate vehicles across 15 categories and two classes - popular and premium. This year, the awards are based on the responses from over 72,000 surveys that questioned owners who recently bought a 2011 vehicle. AutoPacific uses the 48 questions on the survey to gauge owner satisfaction in its Vehicle Satisfaction Awards. Those findings are then paired with IntelliChoice's Best Overall Value Award, which is based on cost of ownership figures, to create the Motorist Choice Awards.
The Ford Expedition (http://www.autoblog.com/ford/expedition) took home wins in the Cargo Hauler, Road Trip and People Mover categories. That makes the SUV the only vehicle to ace three categories in 2011.
