We will be breaking/err working on a certain black Shelby GT500. Plans to include:

Radiator and Heat Exchanger swap
Some suspension work (struts/springs, control arms, Watts links)

And if we have time/interest maybe we'll do:
Neon light install
wheelie bars
Skid plates
13" reverse chrome knock off Dayton wheels
hydraulic "sid-dumpr"
Snow plow up front
Rear trailer hitch & winch
sticker mods.

We'll probably start around 9:30 or 10 and get lunch sometime in there. Feel free to swing by in grubbies if you want to give us a hand!

Address:

11631 3rd St. NE
Blaine, MN 55434

Sounds fun - Let's make the next wrenching day at D9's Garage-mahal a vintage car wrenching day! I'll offer my '65 for master cylinder replacement and/or intake manifold swap! Wait until you guys see how easy it is to work under the hood of an early SB Ford V8. Tons and tons of room to get your hands and tools around in there compared to the newer cars. I can do a Radiator swap in less than 30 minutes. The longest part is draining the coolant and those damn tower hose clamps are dreadful!

You'll "offer" your classic? What about the two that are there already? :)

OK, I'll throw in the 2 Ps as well... Besides we need something other than red so that we can see the blood stains from our cut up fingers/hands in time to properly remove them from the car.

How long you guys going to be wrenching today?
My father-in-laws 48 ford is having some issues, and we are stumped. Wondering if anyone, with some better knowledge, is willing to swing out this way? (Stillwater that is.)

Joe quit about 9pm, I went in about 9:30 and came back out about 10 and just quit about an hour ago. His car is still on the lift.

More wrenching tomorrow!

Stilz, what's up with the '48?

We replaced the plug wires due to the origionals were arching. Now its running like its missing. If I have time tomorrow after I get my suspension in my svtf I was going to go through them again and check them all. Not my forte though if you know what I mean.

So you will be there tonight working on the Shelby again? Did you get the front end done? I may stop over again if we are on.

Gonna sound really dumb... but did you double check the firing order and retrace the lines.
I crossed the 1/2 on my '62, and the car would run, it just seemed like it was mis-firing really bad.

Also, ohm out each wire. Could be you got one that was cracked.

Easy stuff first. :)

Yes we will be working on the Shelby more.

I agree, sounds like you either crossed a wire, it's not on all the way, or the distributor cap is crooked!

I'm at Dans now getting everything for when he gets home. Hopefully we can move quicker tonight... That rad and HE were a PITA to fit!!

Suspension should be easier... I pray. ;)

Any and all help is still welcomed.

Ok, here's what I got.
Dan (My father-in-law) spoke to one of his "early ford club" buddys and he told him that the wires we used, an MSD 8.5mm universal cut to length kit, was a bad idear.
The MSD wires draw too much power for the old coil to handle and that is supposedly the problem. Were going to switch back to the stock wires (repairing the bad ones) and give that a try tomorrow evening.
Good old Ford... wants to go, but doesn't like the way you're making it go. :arg:

BTW - after getting home about 4am and taking a shower (and a handful of Aleve) I got in bed.

10 minutes later my back went into spasms and felt like I went 10 rounds with Mike Tyson (in his prime... not "I'll chew your ear off" Tyson).

Hope you're doing ok, Dan.

2) You're not old.... just "refined". :cancan:
