I TRYED to start my Bullitt today and my 6 year old battery layer down and died. Nothing like a new summer and a new battery to get the ball rolling :)

Gary that battery might be covered under a warranty. I recall something on the S197 batteries somewhere... Otherwise, are you using a trickle charger over the winter?

I'm still on my original battery in the 04. Think I'm going to swap it out this year just because.

Great! I'm suspecting that F8L's battery might be on it's way out!

I'm definitely starting to believe that too! It just doesn't turn over as quickly as it used to.

It'll be replaced with another Motorcraft though:headbang:

Okay this is a good topic. I've had a Optima Blue Top battery (wish they still made them). I prob will be buying a new battery within the next couple months. Im going with Motorcraft or Interstate.... where's the best deal at?

Thanks

I just call Steve@Tousley. I guess I haven't really shopped around at all

EDIT: I did try a battery from OReillys (for my F250) and I think it made it a year and a half, so it was right back to Motorcraft for me

I'll never buy an Optima battery again. I went through 5 red tops during the 3 year warranty period... once the warranty expired and the battery went bad, I bought a cheapo from Fleet Farm. It's worked perfect for several years now.

I recently learned that Optima batteries cannot be charged properly with a conventional charger and it causes them to go bad, so you need to buy a special Optima charger if you own one. They weight the same, cost 3x as much, and really offer zero benefits over a conventional battery so I don't think I'd ever spend money on an Optima again.

I've heard more bad stories than good about Optima batteries. I guess I'll never be trying one of those!

Exide makes pretty much all the 24F batteries out there for all the different lables. I've had good luck with them in my vintage stangs. Usually, they last 12-15 years (My dad got 20 years on his Shelby - it was a Caterpillar brand 24F)

I wouldn't buy OPTIMA again. 4 or 5 years ago now they were bought out by another company (so I was told). The company kept their name, raised their prices and lowered the quality. They don't make the blue top (which I have) anymore either. I am sticking towards Interstate or Motorcraft... depends who has a better price.

I can get you a decent price on a Motorcraft through work under 100 bucks for sure. Could let you know tomorrow. Can't beat an Interstate or Motorcraft battery..

Will do. It also won't move around in your battery tray.
