Please post in this thread if you are having a problem with the new forum. There will be a few bumps along the way so if I can centralize the issues, will help greatly.

Thanks!

Non-Club Activities running into Search, that would be a screen resolution thing. What screen resolution are you using?

Garage - Try adding to the garage now. I hadn't setup permissions for Paid Members

Presently the forum is set to only allow Current Paid Members to setup custom signatures and avatars.
BUT I need to figure out "exceptions" so once I have that figured out, will keep you posted.

Dave - You are set as a current paid member so you should be able to set them up.

Photostream -

Random album picture module is available but it only displays at the bottom of the forum. There is of course a "hack" to move it to the top but I have read they are working on a version to display at the top of the page. Rather than doing the hack, I'm holding out for the out of the box version that works at the top of the page. :)

IE7 is showing that for me. Will have to see if I can fix that through the CSS somewhere.

Click on your vehicles year/make/model, it'll give you a drop down menu where you can go back and modify the information you initially entered. You can also add time slips, mods, dyno runs, etc.... using this drop down menu.

Here is a fix for the "gap" people are seeing when there is a quote in the thread.

Several users of this website have noted formatting issues when viewing the forums with Internet Explorer 7 or 8. The primary symptom is that any forum replies that include quotes are displaying a huge amount of white space. This problem has been reported to the software vendor, and they will likely address this issue in a future update.

In the mean time, there is a simple fix for IE 7/8 users that eliminates the problem.

1. While in Internet Explorer, click on the Tools menu, then click on Compatibility View Settings.

2. Uncheck Display all Websites in Compatibility View, then click the Close button. I'll keep monitoring to see if/when this is fixed by the software vendor.

where is the Lightning forum at?

LadyCobra
03-23-2010, 03:39 PM
We've condensed things down a bit so there isn't a specific forum for each vehicle. There is however a Vehicle Chatter forum (below the Clubhouse). When traffic builds up enough for specific vehicles, we'll re-explore and add in specific vehicle forums if needed :)

I'm having this problem as well. I created a test album and was limited to two pics. I surmise this is due to the size restriction. Can you investigate and update if possible? Thanks!

I have IE 8/Windows 7 or Vista and no gap above replies, I'm not using compatibilty mode... maybe fixed already but just thought I would note it.

I'll try to remember to check it out in Windows XP w/IE 8 tomorrow

so far everything I have tried and looked over seems to work and looks good.

I did change a setting to receive notifications on replies to posts, that's usually on by default on other forums I frequent.

Ive been having issues with my home computer here where if my windows is bigger then 1024X768, scrolling the forum is very jittery. Anything around 1024X768 t scrolls fine. I think it has something to do with the background behind the forum? Anyone else notice this? I have a widescreen LCD.

no issues with that at all. I am in 1680x1050. 22" widescreen. I would check out your video drivers and try to see if they have a newer version.

Was interesting and may just have been a temporary glitch? I was trying to upload the same pic as my profile pic and avatar in the garage and it wouldn't take either one and just returned the error I noted above. Now, I'm playing with it again and am trying to upload same pics - no resizing - and it was successful. Not sure what the difference is. So, I'm just rolling with it for now.

Not sure exactly what is happening but I'm wondering if this is the same thing. I know that the gray/blue background behind the posts in IE can "flutter" a bit. That's a know issue by the developer that they are working to fix.

The overall background of the site (black) is a 10x10pixel background that is repeated so that shouldn't be causing much I would think.

Im going to try upgrading my graphics drivers when i get home to see if thats the issue. But for reference i use windows 7 at home and firefox as my main browser. Graphics card is a g-force 8800.

tried it here at work with Windows XP and IE 8 = Still no gap above the quotes. Only time I see a gap is when I use compatibility mode.

the above statement is the same for IE 8 w/XP/Vista/Windows 7

I do know if you have Windows XP and IE 8 --- If you do the Windows Updates there are updates listed under "optional" for IE 8 and compatibility. I know doing these updates have helped me in the past w/forums and might be worth checking out. I don't know if these same updates are available for Vista or Windows 7 as I haven't paid close attention.

anyhow... that's what I see and experience..

also... no problems with slow or jerking scrolling... I use wide screen LCD's set to the highest res... and all is smooth...

I'm still having a problem with uploading pics to an album. I was able to create a test album and it allowed the cover to be created - however, when I try to upload pics I get the following error:
The picture exceeds your total album file size quota by 56.9K

I receive this error right away when clicking on the "upload pictures" link when adding to the album.

The cover pic is quite small and is only 141K so it seems that the limit is too small if that's the only one that can be uploaded. There are no other pics in the clipboard. Also, I deleted the previous test album so there doesn't seem to be enough space allocated to my user account for albums? Can you please check into this and let me know if you need more information? Thanks, Marie

The moblie version isn't working. Are you going to make anymore changes to the way the site looks? Work in progress?

I need a bit more info of what isn't working. The mobile version has been used on a variety of test phones so I've seen it working so I need some more info as to what exactly isn't working. The mobile version is set to ONLY work for the forums. The rest of the content on the site is not compatible. Hoping a developer will come along and create an add-on for that to work as well.

What kind of changes are you looking for? As it is now, the main structure won't change. Only thing I might be adding would be content areas but it is otherwise done.

2 iPhone's here - We HATE mobile view. Can you change it so mobile is NOT the default/auto detected? I miss having the "REAL" view of the site. :fruit::engarde: Or, is there a way we can manually change the setting?

LadyCobra

Remember, I gotta HEAR about these things before I can investigate. I can't read minds :)

LadyCobra
04-11-2010, 08:05 PM
Iphone users: You should now see the default style of the site and not be pushed into the Mobile view.

Another issue:
For anyone who has clicked on the option to "change" the style of the forum and got stuck in Mobile view, the mobile view option has been removed as a selection while on a PC. The mobile option should now only be detected on mobile devices (with the exception of the Iphone). If you are STILL stuck in Mobile view, clear you cache (temp internet files) and any cookies for www.mnfords.com and the problem will repair itself.

Any other problems, just let me know :)

HI, two things I noticed today...

First, I was logged in and then interrupted for a short time by a co-worker (go figure- have to work while at work!) and the website timed out on me and logged me out. I only noticed this because I was in a thread viewing. When my coworker left, I went to view the albums, but it said I had to be logged in to view the albums. Here are my questions:

1. What is the "inactivity" time out period set to on the site?
2. Shouldn't albums be visible to all - even those that aren't logged in?

Thanks for checking into this. Marie

LadyCobra
05-03-2010, 01:42 PM
The "inactivity" time is set to 15 minutes. Meaning that if you sit on one page and do not do anything for 15 minutes, it will log you out of the site, even if "Remember Me" is checked.

As for the Albums, yes they are set for EVERYONE to see them. Only paid members can actually upload pictures to the albums. I double checked and the setting is set for all usergroups to view the albums.

LadyCobra
05-03-2010, 02:07 PM
Another thought on the Album, make sure when you have it setup that it is set to Public.
Public means EVERYONE can view it. If set to Private, only registered/current paid members will be able to view it.

HMMRDWN
05-03-2010, 02:13 PM
Thanks Jen, I was thinking about that and decided to test it. I still can not access the albums to open them if I'm not logged in. I'm unable to view any of the three albums, posted. I checked mine and it is set to public, which I'm sure the other two are as well. I have screen shots as examples but am unable to attach them. Can you send me an email address where I can send you the samples? Marie

LadyCobra
05-03-2010, 02:16 PM
