Since I just live 10 miles south of Amery(acutally you will be driving through my little town of Deer Park, dont blink you'll miss it) I will running up there when I can if the rest of this week goes well. Will be trailering my bird up there as it is not registered, but that also comes down to getting the driveshaft cut down and in this week and working out some last minute bugs. Looking forward to it, and meeting all of you. I remember you cars from last year but didnt know it was a web group just figured with 3 cobras next to each other you all knew each other some how, but never got to talk to anyone. SEE YA IN LESS THEN A WEEK.

i think it said that if you email him that you could run as a group. just thought it would be fun to hang out and run together. i thought i saw a list on here of where you highlighted all the people that were going from our club (now i cant find it). do you think if we send that to him we could run as a group?

the run groups are usually determined by the amount of times you have been there.

the good thing about being in different groups is that we can video and take pics of each other. Last year we were all in the same group and no one took pictures.

I did get a few shots of some of your cars last year. I will see if I can find them and post em up.

Even if you are all in one group, I'll be there so I can take pics and video since I'm not one of the drivers.
I'll ride along once or twice but should be plenty of time to get pics/video of you all :)

Here's a list of who is signed up from the club:

281 / Brett Lindert / 1997 / Ford / Mustang GT / red
Z00 / Carson Turnquist / 1996 / Fobra / white
87 / Frank Wix / 1988 / Ford / TBird Turbo Coupe / black
3 / Gary Hamlin / 2003 / Ford / Cobra / red
54 / Kyle Krenz / 1989 / Ford / Mustang LX / Black
919 / Mac Cafferty / 2001 / Ford / Lightning / red
71 / Marie Swenson / 2007 / Ford / Mustang GT / blue

Being in the same group gives us more time to BS with everyone for sure.

But, being in separate groups would give those that haven't auto-crossed this course before the opportunity to ride with those of us that have.
Trust me, THAT is a huge benefit...
Otherwise you could end up like I did on my first run "orange cobra lost on the course". hehe

We will all walk the course together before ever running it, but going through it at speed is an entire different experience.

Just remember, the cones laying down point you to which side of that pair of cones you should go to.

< | (cone laying down pointed to left with another cone standing up) = GO TO THE LEFT of this cone

| > go to the right of this cone

You will hit areas in the course (watch the vids I shot last year) that have cones pointing at each other.

|> <| This is a "gate" you must maneuver your car between these.

Pretty easy once you get the hang of it

I've never done autocross, but wanted to for a long time. Had three roommates in college who were members of the SAE club in Mankato State, and they got into it - that's where I caught the bug.

This weekend, I have to go to Albert Lea for a car show, otherwise I'd love to do this. I'll definitely plan on it for next year! :ford:

weather is looking worse and worse for rain both days. What happens if the whole weekend is a washout?

LadyCobra
06-10-2010, 07:04 AM
Don't think they have ever had a complete washout. They'll run it with light rain I believe.

Sunday is looking to be the better of the two days when I checked this morning.

I believe it said in the online registration for this that if both days get rained out then its totally canceled and with his cost of organizing and such we are out our entry fees. I doubt they will have a redo date as this is the only one they will have this year because they are retaring the pavement at the airport this summer and are supposed to start fairly soon I believe.

SVTL919

I will not be running if it is raining at all its not safe to run in the rain. . That BS if they don't have the event they should return the money.

Well its not raining her. Actually doesnt look too bad. One thing about this area is it seems that the St Croix river sucks up the rain. A lot of time it hits the cities then blows past us. I will see ya up there, wont have the bird though, some small issues this morning then got to talk to St Croix Countys finest. Yeah, been a long morning, looking forward to relaxing and watching the cars.

thanks for posting the # I had a great time.
I did not expect that high of a mph with braking 100+ feet before the finish line. they need a little longer stopping distance for my truck if i would have braked at the flag i would have needed you to pull me out of the trees.

Despite the rain and "incident" at the restaurant, had a great time.

I did claim a cone on my last run, tried to slide the sharp corner (#3) but pulled out of it a little too soon and squared the car away short of my intended line. Oh well.

I'll wear the cone of shame at our next show/event.

I met both my goals this year, wanted to run the course in under 35 seconds (ran a 32.88) and to crack the 125mph barrier (ran 126 on 3 different runs).

:woot:

Thanks Carson for the cooking (and chow) and Brett for the pasta salad too!

Good seeing everyone today, felt like old times.

pads were good they are MC ones check and pumped all fluid out. not the best by any means. the entire braking set up on the lightning is substandard for a 5000 lb sport truck. they do fine on day to day driving but you can sure see the weakness on them at autoX i remember that from the DCTC track. i just have brake envy of hellfyr's setup. upgraded lines may help with the braking as well as better hawk pads. by the way thanks for the tires they worked great. i did pump them up more on the second run so that they would slip around the turns a little.
