So, I'm looking at consolidating to one car and selling my two. Are 03 Cobra's really as bad as they sound? I've read quite a few threads online and it seems like they have a lot of issues. I'm looking at the one at Tousley right now, looks all stock with the exception of springs, c/c plates and wheels.

if by bad you mean capable of large amounts of horsepower and easily modifiable then yes they are as bad as they sound.

haha, well, I know that and that's why I'm thinking of getting one. No, I've read issues with the heads, cooling, some trans issues too. Is it true that Ford came out with a new/revised head for 04? Are most of these issues becasue people are dumb and beat the crap out of the car and don't drive them right?

I have never had a trans issue with my personal car. All i have upgraded is the input shaft and it has held over 800 hp for going on 3 years now. They did issue revised heads on the 04's. to my knowledge the only difference was the amount of threads for the spark plugs. My car is an 03 and when it was taken a part we found that it did have the heads with 9 threads like the 04's even though it was an 03. I believe my car was built in June of 2003 though so i am thinking the new heads were out by then possibly. There is an issue with cooling in the driverside head for cylinders 7-8. It usually only comes into play if you are making lots of highspeed pulls one after another. There is a modification that can be done for about 200 bucks to take care of that problem. I did have the head problem on my car but have not had an issue since doing the head cooling modification.

You're about a week too late to pick up my red one at a steal, but there are no more problems with these cars than any other modified Mustang. There's a lot of "right" mods and a lot of "wrong" mods. I've done 'em all!!

Late 03's had different (revised) heads. I'd try to get a VIN or build date on that particular Cobra before purchase.

I loved my 03 Cobra, it ran strong, no problems. Get one if you can.
