ok, so im sure you guys know my problem, but i'll outline it again.

ok, so my 98 svt full 3.0l swap.

mostly on hot days(75+) and on any other day the car feels like it, it will rev from 750RPM jumping to 5000RPM in a split second and the only way to solve it is to shut the car off for 10 sec +, but for the last few days that doesnt even work.

so while jaybird and i were working on it this weekend, i pulled and cleaned the throttle body, EGR , IAC and today i pulled the mass air flow sensor and cleaned it with its proper cleaner.

no change , BLAH!!! im just getting so pissed off at this point, im to the point of starting to replace •••• with new stuff.

so i need help, or this things gonna be up for grabs.

thx guys and gals

Mechanical or electrical?

Mechanical: you can pull the pedal down and the throttle body is open
Electrical: revs on it's own with no throttle/pedal depressed?

Mechanical: Do what you've done but check the throttle cable for binding in the pedal, cable sheath/housing, and throttle body
Electrical: check for vacuum leaks and poor vacuum connections. Also could be a throttle position sensor, of which I probably have many if it's still the stock 3.0L Taurus/Sable throttle body...

WOOT. Dead spot FTL.. I bet if you would have watched hte TPS voltage it would have spiked and that's what caused it to rev.. :)
