It's that time again, the Sturgis Mustang Rally is only a month away. Attached is the departure plan for those who would like to cruise together. We will begin with breakfast at Denny's Wednesday morning at 10 AM.

Please post up if you plan to join us for breakfast so I can let them know we have a large group coming. We also need a headcount for the cruise so we do not leave before you arrive.

If you have insight on construction or other route issues, or want to change the route, we can discuss.

Remember to bring your 2-way radios. If you have any questions, please let me know! :)

So whats the official count on Sturgis so far? :spin:

My count is 14 cars, one of which is being trailered out. :) We've doubled participation every year... started with 3, then 7 and now 14! :3gears:

Did a LOT of research online today and coupled it with information we've gathered the last couple years in our Sturgis trip. See the attached document about distances between cities along the route, and gas stations that will be most likely to have high octane fuel... and what to do when we CAN'T find high octane fuel.

By the way, the document says running 91 is ok provided us boosted cars stay out of the boost (and that's 100% true).
However, I WOULD NOT run anything lower than 91. In some areas 89 is considered PREMIUM octane. Just keep that in mind.

This is excellent octane research. Now I need to make room in my trunk for some Torco.
Hmmm..Lets see now... Torco, helmet, cooler, convertible covers, luggage, wife.. not enough room. I gotta leave something behind.?! ?::eek5::turborun:

My dad and I our planning on taking his 66 GT this year, Is SD's gas all oxy mixed? We really prefer to run non-ox, but wasn't sure what the situation is out there and thought you all might have some insight. We're looking at staying in Mitchell as well, so we'll probably see you on the road.

Thanks for the info on the fuel research. I'm having a little bit of trouble trying to understand something in the document. Maybe someone can help me out?

"Ease into the throttle like an egg between your foot and the pedal and all should be fine." <========= Not really grasping this concept.

I already have WYSIWYG as a plate had it since 1993. My father co-founded a software company in 1983 and WYSIWYG is a old term from Lotus Notes meaning What You See Is What You Get - on the monitor to the printer.

DNeinstadt

I didn't think that term was specific to Lotus Notes. Regardless, I see you!

So what's the final count, who's in for Denny's on Wednesday at 10 AM?

Saleen2bfree
08-29-2010, 06:09 PM
I think Jen said 12 cars. Looks like 9 on the poll. Are we joining up with any other clubs? I saw a forum where someone from MN Fords was trying to arrange that.

We will be meeting another club on Thursday (Noon) for the final leg to Sturgis. 30+ cars from Sioux Falls. Anyone who wants to leave for Sturgis earlier on Thursday can certainly do so. Can discuss the details when we arrive in Mitchell on Wednesday night. Breakfast is still on for Wednesday, 10:00 AM, Dennys Bloomintgon.

Would be cool to cruise with the group from Sioux Falls.

Puts us in much later to Sturgis for check-in, car clean-up and the welcome reception.
We're bringing some things from the club to have on hand at the welcome reception so we may need to leave earlier.

But we'll talk more at Breakfast/In Mitchell.

If anyone is considering leaving earlier on Thursday, post up and lets us know :)

EDIT: We are IN for breakfast at Denny's at 10AM

We will be at breakfast but will be hanging back to cruise with a few other members that can't leave until 2-230. Anyone else needs/wants to leave at 2-230 just post up and let us know :) Also, the latest we will be leaving from Mitchell on Thursday will be noon (to wait for the South Dakota group)

Here's the forecast I pulled up this morning for Sturgis from Weather.com
It's been changing everyday for the past week so I wouldn't be surprised if it changes again.

We're out. Minor issues with the car along with not enough time to fix it leaves us out of the Sturgis trip. Those that are going, enjoy, and please take LOTS of pictures. Good luck and travel safe!!

I'm on the final countdown and there's SO much left to do!
Although I originally voted as IN on breakfast at Denny's...I'm just going to have to skip it to pull together the final details. I have baseball the night before...for those of you that don't know me... TWINS baseball is a BIG deal for me! So I will need the extra time Wednesday morning to get my act together. Will likely cruise out in the second wave and meet up with everyone in Mitchell! I'm looking forward to the trip....it's going to be GREAT!!!!
