After Meeting Option #1

For those of you who know Brian Sward (TRKPONY), he races/flips school buses down at Elko. He has been in contact with the owner and arranged for us to go down to the Eve of Destruction and race around the track before the festivities begin!

Date: Saturday, August 21
Time: Spectator gates open at 5 :00 PM | Club will have their own parking area (Race time TBA)
Cost: $0 (Free for MNFE members), $15.00 otherwise at the gate

Click Here for Eve of Destruction Details (http://www.elkospeedway.com/events/eveofdestruction.html)

There will be a live band playing after the races. If you race your vehicle, you will need to sign an insurance waiver. I didn't ask, but probably best to bring your helmet too. Please give Brian a call directly if you have other questions: 612-207-9623.

Please post up if you will spectate or race so we can get them a head count! Thanks for arranging Brian, sounds like a fun night!

Soulfisher / MsGreeaseMonkey for Elko. (Racing around the track or just lapping?)

For the group out on the track I believe it is just lapping. There is an option to race available in their "street class" separately.

I don't see why they wouldn't allow you out there since they have busses and such going out.

I'm not firmilar with elko. is it a dirt track, or paved track?
Also, it soulds like a Mustang only thing for the track, so I'd have to vote for the Movie. Even though I know the humps at ValiHi will kill my car. :spin:

HELLFYR

Elko is a paved track. Prett ysure they paved their parking lot several years back too. Used to be a regular track on the NASCAR Northern route, still is for ARCA and ARTGO as far as I know.

Nice place.

Wish I could, but we'll be out of town that weekend. Never been to Elko - it's supposed to be a really nice track.

We have 3 dirt tracks within 45 minutes down here, and that's pretty cool racing (but not conducive to street vehicles). Allowing street-legal vehicles on any of these tracks is a rare opportunity, and I think you all should take it if you can.

Elko has been doing their "Eve of Destruction" for a long time. They have school bus races where the buses are essentially destroyed (kind of a roller derby for school buses) - stuff like that. There are videos of it on Youtube. It would be a fun time!

In order for the group to receive free admission, are they looking for at least 10 track participants? Or, if we are participating and parking our cars on display in the plaza does that count towards the free admission? Just curious, I'm IN for spectating, but OUT for laps around the track. Too close to Sturgis to tempt fate.

I don't wanna start anything here... but why was the contact made to Gary/Tracey instead of one of the Directors about the details ?

And if it is side by side racing, I'm out... single cars for fast lap time (what they would call "time trials"), I'd consider it.

Information I didn't have, hence why I asked.

There have been a few instances in the past when people were "mentioning" things to other members
and assuming it was getting to the directorship's ears. Just wanted to make sure that wasn't happening
again.

Thanks for sharing the info!

Brian called me this afternoon.

Free admission whether you are on the track or not.

The track can fit 5-6 cars wide, so it won't be completely side by side.
And you can go as fast/slow as you want, doesn't have to be a race.

Brian will be at the meeting on Saturday to answer any other questions that may come up between now and then.
