Another upgrade...

by HELLFYR on 06-04-2010 at 02:37 PM
Been fighting with a bum brake caliper for quite awhile now (ever since the boiled fluid at MAM last year). Finally decided I'd had enough of the tick tick tick tick tick, squeeeeeeeeeeeeeal tick tick tick.... and called AVF Racing. Ordered up the 2000 Cobra R brake kit (M-2300-x) and installed it Wednesday night. Noise is gone, they look awesome and the car could send you through the windshield when braking. If it wasn't for the "R" tires up front, the ABS would be kicking in constantly

Another bug bites the dust!

by HELLFYR on 06-04-2010 at 02:29 PM
Had the day off today, so took the car up to DB Performance to try and sort out the strange idle and surging/bucking issues the car has been exhibiting lately. I had already replaced a bunch of sensors (TPS, IAC, FRPS), eliminated the oiled K/N air filter (replaced with a no oil Amsoil unit), checked for vaccuum leaks... and still the car was acting up.

We did a ton of data logging using the SCT LiveLink software on my laptop and the new WideBand Air Fuel interface I finished up this

Still sorting out the issues...

Gonna try swapping the IAC (Idle Air Control) valve tonight and see if that takes care of the bogging at tip in.
If not... it's back to Danny W for some additional tuning work.

Also have a tick in the front brakes... AGAIN.
Reading online, this can often be caused simply by weak brake pad anti-rattle clips (which are really poorly named, they
actually hold the CALIPER in place as opposed to the brake pads... they are just attached to the pads which are firmly

Hrmpf...

The cobra has crabs... or something similar apparently...

Issue #1
It really doesn't like the new Throttle Body (BBK Twin 65).
If I set the throttle plate so the idle is decent, the plate sticks and you literally have to kick it open with the gas pedal.
If I dial that out (so it opens smooth) then the idle jacks up around 1500 to 2000.
There really is no happy medium.
Reading online this throttle body suffers severely from vaccuum lock.
So, have currently

Dyno Results

by HELLFYR on 04-05-2010 at 10:36 AM
Danny started with the "drive-ability" portion of the tune, and got almost everything squared away there. There is still a little stumble, but we think that may clear itself up as the computer learns it's new configuration.

After that we went on to the performance tuning.

When all was said and done, she was pushing out a consistant 526/7 rwhp with 533 rwtq at only 19* timing!

Thanks Danny!
